5 tips to stay sane and happy
A “five-a-day” programme of social and personal activities can improve mental wellbeing, much as eating fruit and vegetables enhances physical health, according to Foresight, the government think-tank. Its Mental Capital and Wellbeing report, which was compiled by more than 400 scientists, proposes a campaign modelled on the nutrition initiative, to encourage behaviour that will make people feel better about themselves. 2/3 of Vietnamese Americans support McCain: reason?
UPDATE: Shandon Phan, 29, the Founder of Asian Americans for McCain, and Jessica Vu, 22, a native of San Jose and a student at Harvard Law School, shed light on why the Vietnamese community supports McCain in their NPR article.

Angel Island fire
Did you know that Angel Island was on fire earlier this week? That's right, the big island next to Alcatraz and Treasure Island turned which used to be the West Coast "Ellis Island" immigration station turned into an inferno these past few days. Kinda sad! I hope the historical buildings were spared. If it wasn't for my friend Charlie's photos on Facebook and Flickr, I wouldn't have even known about this. I guess this is what happens when you don't watch local TV news. +1 for power of Web 2.0 though!Anyhow, here are some spectacular pictures I've found on Flickr. For some reason, they remind me of the movie Volcano (1997) where a volcano erupts in the middle of Los Angeles. I've also included a few flavors of Golden Gate Bridge panoramic shots which I've been inspired to Photoshop. Phenomenal! Read more

North Berkeley armed robberies
I've received a email with this warning from Berkeley Police today. Just wanted to share it for those like me who live at and/or venture to Northside Berkeley at night which is usually considered much safer than Southside. Perhaps, this is percisely the reason why these buggers decide to rob students on Northside. Note that armed robberies also took place at the Clark Kerr Campus resident halls recently. Be vigilant fellow Bears! Read more -

After an about one-month-long hiatus from blogging, microblogging, and anything really that has to do with writing about my personal life (whether I had one during this time is quite questionable), I believe it's about time I get in the habit of actually generating content for my personal site which I've been working on so meticulously since summer. So naturally, my first post will reflect on what I did during this time, which mostly had to do with kicking-off a personal, non-profit venture for a really worthy cause called Cal Hep B Free.
Since pictures speak louder than words, here are some quick links:

bug fixed: Bad Behavior causes Drupal sluggishness
ISSUE: Recently, I've noticed my Drupal site acting sluggishly, especially when I'm submitting/deleting content nodes or calling/querying data from the MySQL database. The sluggish performance was particularly noticeable when queries from the Views module are called upon. Tasks that would normally take milliseconds may take up to 20 seconds to 1 minute on my site. This was EXTREMELY frustrating... until I found the solution! Read more
