UPDATE: Shandon Phan, 29, the Founder of Asian Americans for McCain, and Jessica Vu, 22, a native of San Jose and a student at Harvard Law School, shed light on why the Vietnamese community supports McCain in their NPR article.

A recent survey done by several colleges including USC, Cal, Rutgers and Riverside shows that the majority of Asian-American voters support Obama over McCain, except for Vietnamese Americans.

Whether it is because McCain fought against the NVA/VC during the Vietnam war, I don't know. But there's no denying that the 1,000,000+ Vietnamese Americans living in the U.S. can make a significant difference in a close election.
